Privacy
Redacted is designed so your image stays on your device. The editor runs in your browser and does not upload your image to a server.
Short version: no image upload, no account, no cookies, no tracking, and exported images do not keep the original metadata.
Image processing
Images are opened and edited locally in your browser. The image file is not sent to Redacted servers for processing.
Downloads and metadata
When you download a redacted image, Redacted creates a new image from the browser canvas. The exported copy does not keep the original image metadata, including GPS/location metadata where present.
Accounts and cookies
Redacted does not require an account. Redacted does not use cookies for the image editor.
Analytics and tracking
Redacted does not track individual users in the editor. There is no behavioral tracking tied to the images you open or export.
Third-party services
The core editor runs locally in your browser. Contact and feedback forms may open third-party form providers when you choose to use them.
What you should still check
- Keep the original image private if it still contains sensitive information.
- Use black boxes for highly sensitive text instead of a light blur.
- Review the whole image before sharing: tabs, file names, and background details can leak information.
